Rex Horner was born in
Cassville, Missouri in 1955. Growing up in rural southwest Missouri
amid the Ozark Mountains, Horner displayed a keen interest in nature.
His art reflects that interest, featuring subjects as widely varied as
the Ozark landscape, wildlife, Southwest subjects and portraiture.
Whatever the subject, viewers are grabbed by Horner's sense of realism
and sensitivity. Having worked in a wide range of mediums, from print
making to sculpture, Horner's true loves were watercolor and pencil.

Horner received his formal art education at Missouri Southern State
College in Joplin, studying with Darrel Dishman. Horner graduated in
1978 and was named outstanding graduating senior in the art department
by MSSU faculty.
Horner's works have received numerous honors in regional competitions
and are held in both public and private collections.
Horner was employed by Wal-Mart for over 24 years as an art director at
the home office in Bentonville, AR. He was also the director of the
Wal-Mart Visitors Center, located in downtown Bentonville, Ark. Horner
created the portrait of Sam Walton that used to hang in the Visitors
Center.
Rex Horner passed away October 23, 2005.
